Choosing The Right Pair Of Shoes For Kids

My kids looooove shoes. 👟 It shows naman with the pairs they own. 🤦‍♀️😅 There is something addicting to the smell of new shoes in a box, right? 🤣 Do we let the kids choose what they want? YES but daddy Andrei and I have 3 things that we consider before buying them the pair they want. 😉

Renz’s shoes: Can you guess what his favorite color is?

FIT: I want them to be comfortable. My boys are very active kaya naman I don’t want them ending up with blisters on their feet. I recommend New Balance for fit and comfort. They have wide width shoes so the toddlers/kids feet have room to wiggle and relax. I consider style under fit. For style, we go of course sa classics. Something that can be paired to any of their clothes. You can check out Adidas, Vans and DC Shoes for the classic pairs.

SAFETY: As I mentioned before, I am a medyo OA mom. I don’t like laces kasi I’m thinking na baka matrip si Luke. Same with Renz when he was still a preschooler. Kaya lahat ng shoes ni Luke, hook and loop/velcro straps. We also check the outsoles, is it safe sa kahit anong surface where they’re going to walk.

Quick & Easy French Toast

Fuwa Fuwa’s Mini Loaf Caramel is perfect if you’re planning to make French Toasts. It’s thickness prevents the bread from sagging when you dip it in milk but locks in the fluffiness of it. You can also choose to not add sugar or honey anymore because of it’s rich caramel flavor. Here’s my quick & easy recipe.

Ingredients:

1 Fuwa Fuwa Mini Loaf Caramel

1 cup of milk (I used The Emerald Fresh’s Whole Milk)

1 tsp of sugar or 1/2 tsp of honey (optional)

2 drops of vanilla

dash of cinnamon

sliced fruits (optional, you can also use jam)

coco jam or maple syrup

Procedure:

1 In a bowl, mix together milk, sugar/honey, vanilla and cinnamon.

2 Dip both sides of every loaf slice. Do not soak to avoid sagging. You don’t want your bread to have a pudding consistency.

3 Fry in a non stick pan for 3 minutes each side of loaf slice.

4 Top with sliced fruits and drizzle with coco jam or maple syrup. Enjoy!

Whole Milk and Chocolate Milk

All raves to The Emerald Fresh’s Whole Milk. It’s creaminess is just right. Compared to other fresh milks, it didn’t have any after taste at all. Whenever I taste milk I always have this weird feeling in my mouth but with The Emerald Fresh’s Whole Milk, I never experienced this. My kids love drinking this in the morning straight from the fridge. A perfect pair to their cereals.

“Tastes like ice cream!” was Renz’s immediate reaction upon tasting the Chocolate Milk. To be honest, I haven’t tasted any chocolate milk like this one. It has the right amount of chocolate and milk blend. Upon checking it’s ingredients, it’s all natural too!

The Breakfast Smoothies

I finally found a healthier alternative to the popular yogurt drink the kids are fond of!

We tried first the Strawberry Breakfast Smoothie and we tasted it’s creaminess, thick consistency and real strawberry bits. Renz’s kept asking if he can bring a bottle to school for a snack since he can’t get enough of it. I find the serving of the bottle too much for a toddler so whenever we open one, Renz and Luke often share.

Same with the Strawberry Breakfast Smoothie, we tasted real fruit bits from the Blueberry and Raspberry variant. We have different favorites so if we’re going to place an order, it will be all the variants. Mine is Raspberry, Luke & Daddy Andrei loves Blueberry and Renz likes the Strawberry and Mango variant.

I would like to commend the delivery man who brought us their product. He immediately gave me instructions on how to handle the milk. The Emerald Fresh is not available yet on any of our local grocery stores or supermarkets but I’m hoping to see them on the shelves soon for an easier access for purchase. Easy Calamares

I never knew it would be this easy to cook Calamares! Had I known it before I wouldn’t waste time ordering from the nearby Paluto in our area. 🤣 I got the recipe online and tweaked it a little bit. Here you go!

Ingredients:

• 1/2 kgs squid, cleaned and cut into rings (I used the small ones, Pusit Tunay as they call at the public market. You can also use the squid packs sold at the supermarket. Advantage is it’s already cleaned.)

• 500 ml water

• salt

• pepper

• 1 beaten egg

• 4 cups flour (divide it in half, 2 cups for the batter and 2 cups for dredging)

• 3 cups water

• Maggi Magic Sarap

• cooking oil

Procedure:

• Bring to boil water with a dash of salt and pepper.

• Once the water is boiling, put in the squid and blanch for 1 minute.

• Turn off heat and remove the squid from the water. Use a strainer to remove excess water. Let it cool.

• Prepare your batter. Add 3 cups of water to 2 cups flour. Mix it well until few lumps are seen. Set aside.

• Pour the beaten egg to the squid. Mix.

• Prepare your dry breading. Mix 2 cups of flour with a small pack of Maggi Magic Sarap, 1/2 tsp salt and a dash of pepper.

• Heat your cooking pan. Pour in cooking oil enough to deep-fry the squid.

• Dip the squid to the batter for coating (You can put all of it at the same time) then dredge it with the dry breading.

• DO NOT OVERCOOK. Cook the squid in high heat for only 1 to 2 minutes to avoid a rubbery texture.

Pair it with spicy vinegar or your choice of dip (my kids love ketchup and mayo).

Our Peppa Pig Live Experience at Solaire

Luke has always been a fan of Peppa Pig since he was 1. I’d see him watch it on Netflix and on YouTube as well. He sometimes imitate Peppa and call me “Mummy!” with a strong British accent. 😅

He was ecstatic when he learned we’d be watching Peppa Pig, not just on the TV but live! I showed him the show’s previous performances and boy this little guy was so giddy about it. We were supposed to watch the premier show but I had work commitments Friday afternoon.

We went to The Theatre at Solaire on a Saturday with my mommy friend, Beverly and her daughter, Eli. We were 5 minutes late but it was just a portion of the show that we missed. The kids really enjoyed the interactive show. Aside from singing and dancing along, some were lucky enough to snap pictures with Peppa Pig when she went out to the crowd after the 20-min break.

Our favorite part aside from the singing was when the cast threw big balls to the audience to pass around. Luke was so game to participate in throwing the ball but wasn’t able to touch it so he cried.

The finale of the show was awesome! Confetti was all over the air. Some kids even get to bring the big confettis home.

It was such a unique and unforgettable experience. Definitely one for the books. Thank you Circles Entertainment for letting us experience this one of a kind show.
