Dole’s Sun-Powered Promo Ends with the Biggest Pachinko Game in the World

MANILA, Philippines – Did you catch Dole & Seasons Plantation Pachinko grand raffle draw? Php 1 million for the taking in a draw that’s larger than life! The Plantation Pachinko aired live on the official Dole PH Facebook page last July 27.

For the past 2 months, Dole and Seasons have been bringing #SunshineForAll by giving away daily cash prizes to lucky Filipinos who entered the first-ever sun-powered promo, ‘Araw Araw Base sa Sikat ng Araw.’

Winners took home up to Php 40,000 every day, depending on the sunshine level at the Dole plantation in Polomok, South Cotabato. It was a battle for the brightest sun power! However, the excitement didn’t end there: Dole and Seasons gave one lucky winner Php 1 million in the Plantation Pachinko grand draw!

But this Pachinko isn’t like any that you’ve seen before.

The big finale culminated in what could be the world’s largest Pachinko board, set in Dole’s Pineapple Plantation in Polomolok, South Cotabato.

The event was hosted by Robi Domingo, Gretchen Fullido, and Karl Jingco. All entries from the first leg of the promo were eligible to win the grand prize. The mechanics were simple – if your unique number matches the winning combination as played and as featured in the giant Dole Pachinko, you win!

Living in these times of uncertainty, Dole is armed with the purpose of brightening the Filipino people’s lives with exciting and innovative promos that have never been done before – a first in the Philippines! All while reminding Filipinos that health is ultimately wealth, with Dole and Seasons’ nutritiously delicious products made from naturally-grown fresh fruits, nourished by the sun.

“We are truly grateful to all our ‘iDoles’ who participated in this promo. It is through your support that we are able to truly spread Sunshine For All.  Just like how the power of the sun nourishes Dole’s pineapples, you made all these happen — you all are our sunshine who made this achievement sweeter!” said Je Diana, Dole’s Corporate Communications Officer.

The winning entry of the Plantation Pachinko roll was lucky number, 3335922.

”As part of our fulfillment of our Dole promises, we are committed to creating shared value to all our stakeholders through access to nutrition. How to Get the New and Improved Philippine Postal ID

Are you like me who doesn’t have any valid IDs or proof of identity except my birth certificate? Fret no more because there’s one you can get easy and fast!

My valid IDs expired last 2020 and Andrei’s IDs expired earlier this year so we’re now having a hard time doing transactions because offices and banks always ask for it for security reasons. We have an important transaction and we needed an ID right away.

So if you’re wondering what ID you can get that won’t ask you for another valid ID (lol to this!), I can recommend you getting a postal ID because it’s the easiest (and fastest) to get.

Photo from PhlPost-Postal ID’s Official Facebook Page

The day before we went at the post office, I prepared our documents. Since it was Andrei’s first time to apply for a Postal ID, the documents he brought were:
• 2 copies of the application form
• NSO birth certificate (original & photocopy)
• credit card billing statement

That’s it! As for me, I renewed my Postal ID so I only brought:
• my expired digitized Postal ID and
• 2 copies of the application form

We arrived at Marikina Post Office around 11:30 am. There were 5 people ahead of us. We paid P650 for our IDs (rush) then our photo and biometrics were recorded. We were told to come back after a week to claim our Postal IDs. If you’re not in a hurry, you can apply for the regular one which will cost you P504 and it will delivered to you in 15-30 days (depends where you live).

It was also easy to claim the IDs, we just presented our claim stub on the day we were told to come back and we got our Postal IDs in less than 5 minutes.

BTW, you can apply at any Post Office nationwide. My address is in Makati but I applied in Marikina.

I think I can put my new postal ID more into use because so many government offices and banks are accepting it now as a valid ID.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can get a Postal ID:
1. Bring 2 copies of your duly-accomplished Postal ID application form. You can download it here. There’s also forms available at the Post Office if you don’t have an option to print it out. Don’t forget to bring a pen.

2. Bring your proof of identity. Submit any 1 of the following:
    • Birth Certificate issued by NSO or Local Civil Registry
    • GSIS or SSS UMID card
    • valid Driver’s License
    • valid Passport
    • IF you don’t have any of the documents/IDs listed above ⬆️, you may bring any 2 of the following documents (at least 1 should have the applicant’s photo and signature):
•BIR ID •Baptismal Certificate •Certificate of Birth •College or Post-Graduate Transcript of Records •Confirmation Certificate •Elementary or High School Form 137 •Marriage Certificate •Valid Alumni ID •Valid Basic Postal ID •Valid College, School or University ID •Valid Company ID •Valid Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) ID •Valid NBI Clearance •Valid OWWA ID •Valid Pag-Ibig ID •Valid PhilHealth ID •Valid PRC ID •Valid Paper-based Postal ID •Valid Police Clearance •Valid Seaman’s Book •Valid Senior Citizen ID •Valid Tax Identification Number Card •Valid Voter’s ID

3. Bring your Proof of Address. Submit any 1 of the following:
     • Barangay Certificate of Residency issued within three (3 months) prior to PID application
     • Certified True Copy of Lease
     • Certified True Copy of Titles issued by the Land Registration Authority (LRA)
     • Certified True Copy of Real Estate Tax Receipt
     • Bank Statement
     • Credit Card Statement
     • School Billing Statement
     • Utility Bill (cable, electric, internet, landline, telephone, water)

For Foreign residents, click here to check out additional requirements.

There you go! For questions/inquiries you may visit http://www.postalidph.com/faqs.html or their official Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/PostalIDPH/

P.S. BEWARE OF FIXERS! I also didn’t put any photos of our claim stub / Postal IDs for security purposes.

SIX STEPS TO PROTECT CLIENTS FROM DEBIT/CREDIT CARD SCAMS

SCAMS are becoming increasingly “authentic” and “sophisticated”. But there are ways to spot and outsmart them.

BDO Unibank enumerates six useful tips to keep the clients safe when making transactions using their debit and credit cards:

  1. Never share your One-Time PIN (OTP), card/account/reference number, or three-digit CVV with anyone, even if the person calling tells you he or she is from the bank. Real bank representatives will never ask for any of these confidential information.
  2. Do not verify your account by clicking on a link sent via email or SMS. These links will redirect you to a website that imitates the bank’s official website. These fake websites are used to steal your information.
BDO, for its part, will only send links to share information such as card promotions. When clients encounter suspicious emails, BDO’s advice is to send them to ReportPhish@bdo.com.ph.
  3. Only transact using BDO Digital Banking app or BDO Pay. If a client uses the web browser, just type online.bdo.com.ph on the address bar to access the BDO Digital Banking account. Remember that BDO will never ask clients to log in to their Digital Banking account through a link.
  4. If BDO monitors a suspicious transaction, the bank sends a transaction alert notification to its cardholder’s registered mobile number. Using its legitimate sender ID — BDO-Alert, the bank will provide the amount charged to the cardholder’s debit or credit card, and the merchant where the item was purchased. The cardholder will then be asked to verify the transaction via SMS.
If the cardholder did not make the transaction, they are advised to call BDO Customer Contact Center Hotline at (02) 8631-8000 or message BDO Customer Care with a blue verified checkmark on Facebook Messenger.
  5. Before traveling abroad, BDO reminds clients to check their available credit card limit and inform the bank how long they will be away prior to their trip. Doing so will allow the bank to take note of their overseas transactions. However, for added protection, the bank may still send SMS alerts or make calls to verify purchases.
  6. Cardholders have the option to lock and unlock their debit and credit cards using BDO Digital Banking to manage their transactions. This function comes in handy if they misplace their cards. When suspicious transactions are detected however, the bank will temporarily lock a client’s card.
Be smarter than a scammer with #BDOAntiScam

To reactivate a locked card, clients may use either of these options: via BDO’s official website (click on “Cards,” “Credit Cards,” “Card Services,” then “Activation”) or through BDO Digital Banking mobile app (click on “More,” “Security Management,” then slide toggle button on card to be unlocked; wait for OTP and enter it to confirm). Cardholders can also text UB YES to 225678 or call the hotline at (02) 8702 6888.

BDO continues to advise its cardholders to always be vigilant and protect their sensitive information to avoid falling victim to fraudulent acts.

Tide to Design First Laundry Detergent for Space,To Begin Stain Removal Testing on International Space Station in 2022

The Procter & Gamble laundry brand partners with NASA in a Space Act Agreement to explore how to efficiently clean astronauts’ clothing in resource-constrained environments, including the Artemis Moon missions and future Mars missions.

Graphic: Business Wire

Tide® has signed a Space Act Agreement with NASA to help in the development of laundry detergent solutions and technology development in space. Under the agreement, NASA may test and study Tide cleaning solutions in space. The study could have potential on-planet implications like innovative solutions for resource and environmental challenges on Earth. Aligning with Tide’s decade-long sustainability commitment, Ambition 2030, Tide will strive to bring off-planet learnings back to everyday consumer products.

Currently, astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) wear clothing several times before replacing with a new set. Clothing is delivered to the station through resupply shipment opportunities. The limited cargo capacity makes the practice of replenishing the clothing supply challenging for deep space missions, such as Artemis Moon missions and a crewed roundtrip Mars mission. Without a laundry solution, 160 pounds of clothing per crew member per year are launched to the ISS. Human roundtrip missions to Mars could be two to three years in length.

Major challenges for off-Earth laundering include ingredient safety and compatibility with NASA life support systems, and the limited amount of water available per wash load and the requirement that the wash water be purified back to drinking-quality water. To combat these challenges, Tide has developed a fully degradable detergent, specifically designed for use in space to solve malodor, cleanliness and stain removal problems for washable items used during deep space missions, while being suitable for use in a close-loop water system.

Onboard a 2022 cargo launch to the space station, “Mission PGTide” (P&G Telescience Investigation of Detergent Experiments), teams will test the stability of cleaning ingredients under microgravity conditions and exposure to the radiation levels experienced in space in partnership with the ISS U.S. National Laboratory and SEOPS. In addition, the stain removal ingredients and performance will be tested onboard the ISS through experiments with Tide To Go Wipes and Tide To Go Pens.

“The ISS National Lab is excited to work with the P&G team once again as they push the limits of their research and development onboard the orbiting laboratory,” said Dr. Michael Roberts, Acting Chief Scientist for the ISS National Lab. “Through private-sector utilization of the space station, companies like P&G can conduct investigations in ways not possible on Earth to develop new consumer products, enhance existing products, and better understand processes that further business models both on the ground and in low Earth orbit. We look forward to this first investigation of Tide in Space and hope that many more will soon follow.”

In addition to testing onboard the ISS National Lab, NASA and Tide researchers may study how an innovative combined washing and drying unit utilizing the special-formulated detergent could potentially be integrated into planetary habitats that may be used for the Artemis Moon and Mars missions under low-gravity surface conditions. There are also a unique set of challenges that present themselves for a crewed Mars mission. Future missions to and from Mars expect to span multiple years, and these long-duration flights will require laundry solutions designed for extreme space-based environments and varying gravity conditions.

“This partnership was created to rethink cleaning solutions – forcing us to rethink innovations for resource-constrained and challenging environments like the ISS, deep space and even the future of our home planet,” said Aga Orlik, Senior Vice President, P&G North America Fabric Care. “We are eager to apply our learnings from our partnerships with NASA and the ISS National Lab to Tide on Earth, developing a low-resource-use laundry solution for everyday use while meeting consumer demand for more sustainable products.”

Tide’s Stain Removal Testing on International Space Station starts in 2022

The news of Tide’s space exploration to innovate low-impact laundry solutions comes on the heels of Tide’s Ambition 2030 commitments, announced earlier this spring. Included among Tide’s Ambition commitments were actionable goals to find resource efficiencies in energy, water and waste across the laundry lifecycle – from manufacturing and packaging to consumer use phase and end of life – to reduce the environmental impact of a load of laundry while increasing the impact of clean clothes.

“Humanity has reached a pivotal point where on one hand, we’re on the exciting cusp of space colonization, and on the other, facing a critical period where action must be taken now to save the planet we all call home,” said Orlik. “The collaboration with NASA and the ISS National Lab are particularly exciting because it allows us to push the bounds of resource efficiency to its absolute limit, uncovering learnings with practical applications for both the future of laundry in space and here on Earth.”

5 Dirtiest Spots in Your Home and How To Clean Them

We are spending more time indoors now than ever, and as we retreat to our sanctuary, it is vital to keep our indoor environment clean and hygienic all day long. However, germs have mastered the art of hiding in some areas—and they are usually not the easiest to clean! This includes our hard-to-wash fabrics which are always vulnerable to deep-seated germs and viruses we call Germumus, or germs, bacteria, and pathogens that appear invisible, but are already stealthily living in our hard-to-wash items.

When was the last time you cleaned your couch? Six months ago? Last year? Never? Bring on the power tools! Here are some ways to keep them clean and what you can do in between washes to keep common trouble spots around the house germ-free.

Couches and Sofas: We all love being couch potatoes but lounging on a dirty sofa is a no-no. Did you know that the average sofa has 12 times more bacteria than your toilet seat? As they can easily trap dirt, allergens, and bacteria in their soft fibers, experts recommend having them professionally cleaned every 6 months. At home, you can use a hand vacuum to clean debris and dirt from the sofa’s surface. Be sure not to forget the crevices where dirt can accumulate!

Curtains: Cleaning your curtains might be included in your low-priority tasks but they actually accumulate a lot more grime than meets the eye. Just like the couches, curtains can also trap dust and dirt. Schedule to wash your curtains twice or more a year with cool or lukewarm water and mild detergent.

Bed Sheets: Ideally, you should change your bedsheets and pillowcases at least once a week as they can have a buildup of oils, dirt, and sweat from daily use. Compared to the average toilet seat, a one-week-old bed sheet contains 29,000 more bacteria. To clean, check the care label and wash with the hottest water temperature setting indicated.

Carpets: Dirty carpets not only look bad but they’re also full of pollutants and grime. Experts recommend having them cleaned by a professional at least once a year or every quarter if you have pets or kids. If you can’t schedule a pro, use a sponge or soft-bristle brush and work a cleaning solution into a lather.

Area rugs: Unless your area rug is extremely delicate, cleaning your area rug is something you can easily take on yourself. High-traffic area rugs should be cleaned at least every 3 months to not only extend the life of your rugs but also to make sure dirt is regularly removed. Thoroughly vacuum the rug on both sides or take the smaller rugs outdoors and shake them off as much as you can.

Other Hard-to-Wash Fabrics: Any area of your home with high traffic and surfaces that get touched a lot is basically a germ bank. This includes your bags, shoes, pet bed, and even office chairs! You can clean them by vacuuming to remove loose dirt or running the covers through the washing machine (if possible) using the warmest appropriate water setting.

Regular laundering of fabrics and cleaning soft surfaces with soap and water will go a long way. But if you’re grossed out by all of the germs and bacteria that might be lurking in your home, you’re probably wondering what you can do in between washes to make sure these germ-laden spots are cleaned every day. Unfortunately, you cannot simply shake and pound out deep-seated Germumus. It helps, sure, but it’s definitely not enough.

As told by our experts, bacteria and viruses grow exponentially in these hard-to-wash fabrics and ordinary punas, pagpag, or vacuuming is not enough to remove them. “We come in contact with bacteria and viruses every day and millions of these linger on fabric items such as mattresses, sofas, rugs, and curtains, and the like,” said Prof. Joel C. Cornista, current President of the Philippine Society for Microbiology, Inc.. “Dusting or vacuuming every few weeks may be helpful but bacteria and viruses can still grow in these items in between your general cleaning days. Exposure to these bacteria and viruses may lead to infections and trigger allergies, and so it will be wise to degerm these items daily.

Fortunately, you need not worry anymore! The NEW Downy Antibac Fabric Spray is your quick and easy solution for the germumus in your hard-to-wash fabrics. It penetrates deep into fabrics to remove 99.9% of germs and eliminate odors, making our homes germ-free and smelling fresh instantly! Use this on your bed and mattresses, sofas, curtains, and even on your shoes and bags!

Say goodbye to Germumus with the NEW Downy Antibac Fabric Spray.

Using the Downy Antibac Fabric Spray is so easy that anyone at home can do their part in eliminating germumus. Complete your cleaning routine with the Downy Antibac Fabric Spray that gets rid of the dust and bacteria left behind after dusting and vacuuming. Simply turn the spray cap on, position your hard-to-wash fabric 20-30 cm away from the spray, and spray until the fabric is wet. Let it air dry after so you can fully experience the 99.9% Antibac freshness!

Level up your cleaning game by including the Downy Antibac Fabric Spray to your daily cleaning routine to ensure your home smells fresh and is safe from germumus all day, everyday! Together, #LetUsSprayAndProtect with #DownyAntibacFabricSpray!

BDO Remit donates Hygiene Kits to POEA Community Pantry

AS COVID-19 continues to adversely impact the lives of millions of Filipinos here and abroad, the efforts to at least mitigate its effects continue.

In celebration of Migrant Worker’s Day, BDO Unibank, through its remittance service brand BDO Remit, recently donated hygiene kits to the community pantry set up by Philippine Overseas Employment Administration’s (POEA).

For love of Overseas Filipinos. BDO Remit donates hygiene kits to the community pantry set up by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration in celebration of the Migrant Worker’s Day.

The kits, consisting of alcohol and face masks, among others, will benefit some 500 people and serve as a valuable health precautionary tool as POEA distributes them to overseas Filipinos coming back home from abroad, especially for those who will travel to areas in the country with still high COVID cases.

Setting up a community pantry is POEA’s own way of celebrating Migrant Worker’s Day this year as the agency was not able to hold its usual program of providing entertainment and giveaways to their clients, which POEA has been doing since 2017 in collaboration with BDO, because of health protocols.

In lieu of its usual activities, POEA decided to organize a simple community pantry this year to uplift the spirit of OFs and give them something they can use to protect themselves from the virus.

This is not the first time BDO Remit distributed health kits to OFs amid the pandemic.

Last year, in coordination with BDO Foundation, BDO Remit turned over hundreds of bags of hygiene kits to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, which were then distributed to OFs who were sent back to the Philippines due to the outbreak of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, BDO Remit’s pre-departure orientation seminar team provided hygiene kits to more than a hundred repatriated seafarers in Iloilo in cooperation with OWWA Region 6 office. In Likewise, while working with OWWA, the Philippine Overseas Labor & Office, and the Philippine General Consulate office, the BDO Remit office distributed face masks to stranded and repatriated overseas Filipinos at the Macau International Airport.

All these form part of BDO Remit’s “Kayang-Kaya, Kabayan” campaign, an embodiment of its commitment to empower overseas Filipinos and make them feel that the Bank is ready to support and assist them wherever they may be. For more information on BDO Remit, visit BDO Kabayan Facebook page—BDO Unibank’s dedicated page for the overseas Filipino market.
